First time in therapy?
Or, do you have experience with therapy?
Either way, I am glad you are here.
In my practice, therapy is collaborative a process. We meet virtually on a weekly basis for roughly an hour at a set time that is convenient for you.
At first, we talk about the reasons that brought you to therapy. I will ask lots of questions to better understand what is getting in your way, your history, and how the problem is impacting your life. At the same time, we will build rapport by getting to know one another. I encourage you to also ask lots of questions! And, I am not a ‘blank slate’- feel free to ask questions that you are curious about.
Then, we jump into our work. I will provide you with information related to the issues you are facing- also called ‘psychoeducation.’ I will also teach, model, and practice coping techniques with you.
With my support, you will go towards difficult times in your life to reprocess. You will learn how your current maladaptive behaviors and thoughts were once really adaptive. You will learn healthy and adaptive responses for yourself.
After a while, you start to feel more connected with your internal emotional experience and more connected in your relationships.
In-between sessions, I encourage you to reflect on the session, try out and implement the new coping techniques. I am here as your partner to gently push you out of your comfort zone.
Finally, we will check-in with your progress and adjust our goals as needed or continue our work together. When you complete your goals or feel like you have gotten what you need out of therapy, we will reduce our meeting times to bi-weekly, then monthly, and finally as needed.
Remember, therapy is an intentional process that takes time. It does not happen overnight.

Yes! I currently accept Aetna, Cigna United Healthcare, Optum, and Oscar insurance in NY.
I also offer a monthly 'superbill' which you submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Contact your insurance to ask about your 'out-of-network' benefits for mental health.

A superbill is a receipt of the mental health services that you receive. It generally includes diagnostic codes, dates and times of the service, provider information and your information as well. I will provide you one on a monthly basis.
Call your insurance carrier to ask about your out-of-network benefits for mental health.

That is perfectly fine and normal!
Ask yourself:
Are there areas in my life that I tend to avoid or I don't feel satisfied with?
What areas of my life do I feel "stuck" in?
What memories or past experiences do I keep thinking about?
When I picture myself 6months from now, how do I see myself?

I am an independently licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the State of New York.
I have clinical experience working as an outpatient substance use counselor, domestic violence counselor at a NYC clinic and as an oncology clinical social worker at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Before starting as a therapist, I worked in leadership for 10+ years leveraging my education in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
I got to a point where I realized that I felt most fulfilled in my work when I would spend time with my team members coaching them to success. I also personally found it difficult finding a therapist that I could relate with so I decided to be part of the change and went back to school.
