Meet Octavio

I am a first-generation Mexican-American providing psychotherapy in New York.

In my work with you, my approach may oscillate between being: directive, explorative, goal-oriented, interpersonal, and conversational or we may simply share presence together. You can always expect me to be transparent, and compassionate, and engage you with unconditional positive regard.

My professional experience includes leading teams in small and large businesses for 10+ years. Closely working with people helped me recognize how little we pay attention to mental health. This brought me to study to become a psychotherapist.

Part of my previous clinical experience includes working with clients addressing substance use issues in an outpatient setting.

I have experience working at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center providing counseling support to patients, families and caregivers facing the many challenges of cancer.

My clinical training includes psychotherapy with individuals, couples and groups. I utilize poly-vagal informed EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) while incorporating a relational framework in my work with you.

As a result of my experiences and training, I specialize in working with Trauma, loss/grief, LGBTQ+ people, and Latinx people.

When I am not in the therapeutic space, you can catch me knitting, learning languages, going to the gym, or doing some embroidery.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself, just as I am, then I can change.
